Pitch highlights from 1st / 2nd November weekend
Winning ways continue for the L1 making it 5 wins on the bounce after a thrilling tussle v Neston 6 with two late goals to finish 3 – 0.
Men’s 4’s notched up a nice 5 – 1 win away at Brooklands keeping up their undefeated record and the Ladies 6’s won away at Urmston 2 – 1 and 100% record and conceded their first goal of the season.
M6 shared the points after a 4 – 4 draw with v Bowdon 6’s and, M5’s got the brace of points with a 2 -1 win v Bowdon 7’s. L3’s picked up points on the road v Deeside
Only 23 goals scored by the senior teams and there was plenty of shotting practice at training this week across the sides and 33 conceded. Two stats we’ll be looking to improve this week
Big point for our u16G in the Tier 1 EH supra League on Sunday with a 2 – 2 draw in normal time v Repton HC and the first team this season to take points off Repton. The top junior competition has a shoot out for draws for a bonus point which we lost 1 – 0 and you couldn’t have written the script with Orla Mawby scoring the winner for Repton!

If you’re wondering why we have ‘name withheld’ playing in so many games its as players haven’t updated their GMS settings to allow their name to be seen – so if don’t see your name on the GMS match details log onto your GMS account and change your settings to ‘consent’ !
Remembrance – minutes silence
This weekend we , along with the hockey and wider community, will be marking Remembrance weekend before all of our home games and before junior training on Sunday. We hope all will support this moment of national reflection for those lost in all wars and conflicts. Take a moment to have a look at the memorial in the Function Room for Timperley members lost in WWI made from one of the slates from the original 1907 pavilion at the Club. This weekend’s hockey – shout out to our Whistlers
Firstly, big thanks to Umpire Co-ordinators, Andy Entwisle and Jo Nicholson (Woody) and our Umpires with the challenge of filling 15 home umpire slots on Saturday and 10 on Sunday with junior and master cup games. Everyone playing this weekend should remember and thank our umpires who make the game possible and as ever a few games a season from all our whistles and new people picking up a whistle makes it all happen.
This weekend shows the range of people supporting whistling at THC, we’ve Maizie and Maddie two of our U18’s doing the beavers through to Dave Halkyard, whose now a NPUA Level 3 National League Umpire helping out doing the Men’s 4s. Be great to hear Dave’s that’s one v his recent national league games. Big thanks to all the whistlers: Col T (doubling up) JP, Andy Ent, Nina, Juddy, Neil H, Leonnie, Woody and Jackie. Sunday’s still a challenge with games to fill so if you can help please contact Woody and Andy urgently
This weekend’s hockey – on the turf
With all the 1s and 2’s away it’s an ideal time to watch some on the other teams on Saturday with 7 home games (M7 cancelled by oppo). We’ve a double header v Buxton for the riding high M4’s v Buxton 2’s (13:45) and L3’s v Buxton L1 (12:15).

Big game for the U16G at home v Bowdon in Supra League (1pm) and the U14G host Chester at 2.30pm. U18G are away at Alderley to close the day at 4pm
Indoor is back for our young Blues
Indoor is a great format of the game but sadly with limited venues and time it’s not played that much. This year we have entered U16B and U18G into the NW Indoors Junior Tournaments and training got underway last night and a big thanks to John D and Mark A for coaching. It another opportunity for our young players to try a different format of the sport. This year based on player responses we didn’t have enough interest to enter other teams.
Saturday Night Socials
Next week its Saturday Night Under the Lights at 6pm so lets get another big crowd down for M1 v Uni of Brum 6pm.
SAVE THE DATE for our ANNUAL CHRISTMAS QUIZ and SOCIAL on Saturday 6th December. Will last years winners the Men’s 3’s defend their crown?! Ticket should be on sale this week coming as we firm up the food and pricing – all welcome!
Sponsor Spotlight – Ian Macklin and Company
We’ve had such positive support from local businesses sponsoring teams or the club this year and this support help and develop hockey at the club as we face rising costs and an ever varied offer. This week’s spotlight is on local estate agents Ian Macklin and Company who came on board as our Ladies 1's sponsor for two years at the start of this season. Big thanks to Rob Macklin who knows the club well through his own playing days (lacrosse).
Please take a look at Macklins on line or pop into one of the friendly local offices and don't forget to mention you're from Timperley HC! With over 100 years of estate agency experience between their four partners, Macklins are a family run firm of independent estate agents with vast local knowledge. They offer a professional and friendly service when it comes to buying, selling and letting property in Hale, Hale Barns, Bowdon, Altrincham, Timperley, Sale and the surrounding areas.
