O45's triumph at Lee Valley and more great news putting Timperley on the hockey map !

The 2021-22 Season has quickly become the season that seems to never end topped of by two huge milestones this in the las week !

EH Tier 1 Women's O45's Champions!
The Ladies have only gone and done it and won the Club's first ever EH Tier 1 Trophy last Sunday and they truly did it in style! Playing on Pitch 1 at Lee Valley, Olympic Park with the full works from a tunnel walk out to a fantastic supportive and loud and proud crowd the girls calmed the nerves to come out 2-1 winners v Epsom in a fantastic game. Huge congratulations to the whole squad, captain Lou Hutchinson, Coach Leonnie Molloy, Assistant Coach Isabel Mawby and everyone who came to support. Brilliant experience for all and showing how hockey is a sport for life and for all as the team celebrations were just as off the scale as the U14 Girls and U16 Boys a few weeks earlier. We've had great coverage too with the Timperley post game celebrations being the headline photo for the EH Masters Championship Finals - News. The Trophy is so big we're bot sure it will fit in the Nick Burnett Trophy Cabinet.

England Hockey Talent Academy - Timperley to be one of 17 Host Clubs !
The other big news this week was our joining many of the top club's across the Country to be a host club for the new EH Talent Academies that will replace Performance Centre's. This is a major strategic step for us as a club and culmination of lots of work behind the scenes this season to attain our be reaccredited as a ClubMark club until 2025, selection of one of the first 37 Talent Centre Clubs (the new gold mark standard for junior club coaching) and now appointed to run one of the new Academies. We'll be doing a full news item about the TA with more details but in the mean time take a look at the EH announcement for more details about the new Talent Development System.

If you missed the Dinner and Awards (or maybe the memory is a little fuzzy!) on 22nd April take a look back at the round up of another super evening - see the full update, winner and season trophy haul and successes 2021 - 22 Dinner and Awards . We held our first Academy U14 - U16 End of Season Celebrations this year on 24th April capping off another successful day at NW Tier 2 Finals for all teams. We've grown this season from 190 to 250 Juniors so we've now split the Academy Celebrations. and with so much Academy content this season we've added an extended 2021-22 Season #OneClub Video (academy cut)

Keep Whistling this Summer !
The Summer is the ideal time to pick up a whistle for the first time, or to brush off the cobwebs and hone those rule interpretations and bar discussions on the finer points of the game! We've lots of opportunities to available in away from League Hockey to help players, parents or supporters pick up a whistle, get support and development as non assessed umpires (through to your assessment) and for assessed umpires to get some practice and feedback back in too. Contact Fozzy for details if you're new to umpiring and for the old hands please update the whistlers availability spreadsheet. There's a lot more time to support umpires in the Summer so why not give it a go !

North West 500 - new Mixed Master Hockey !
The new format for Mixed Masters pushes back on Friday 13th May with an away game v Crewe Vagrants as we play as part of the new friendly league for masters teams. 18 teams have entered playing over the Summer. GK's can be of any gender and the main outfield players (5 and 5) need to have a combined age of 500 ! So there's plenty to keep Ruth Maddocks and Will Reynolds busy organising the Timperley Team with an interesting spreadsheet to work out all the team combo's based on age and availability. We'll update when the fixtures are finalised so everyone can pop down to support the Timperley 500 Team for their home games !

Men's Lower Divisions Tournament
Rory Gibson and Steve Hallmark are organising our first one day Summer Tournament on the season on Saturday 14th May at the Club for club teams playing in the lower divisions. A really popular event so do pop down to support the Timperley Team(s) and lend a hand to Rory and Steve on the organising or whistling front. Thanks Gents for organising what is also another really important fundraiser for us.

...and finally..
The 2021-22 Season may not be at a close but as you can see its back to back hockey over the Summer as we get ready to launch the 2022-23 season. With so much going on we're a little behind with some things including the survey and reviews and will be kicking on with these shortly - as well as confirming the date of the AGM. As we grow we need more people to help from the smallest to largest roles and keep our #oneclub approach evolving and thriving. So do have a ponder and make 2022-23 the season you can help make a difference to hockey and club life at Timperley as without those one off, small, medium, regular and huge contributions we really can't #makehockeyhappen. We've something for all so look out for more details of how to support hockey at Timperley and lets make 2022-23 an even better season !
